Poetry for Fathers Day PDF Print E-mail
fathers_day.jpg

Thank you Dad

Whenever I see the sparkling sea
I think of you
The deep mystery and strong shades of blue
Remind me of your eyes

Eyes which watched over me from birth
And lit my path with mirth

Watching from near
Watching from far
Always watching, smiling, knowing

I listened to sonnets of Wordsworth
Recited by you
with passion and meaning and great understanding
You showed me how it feels to be protected
To have someone approve of every little thing you do
Nothing too small, nothing too great
Any effort I made was enough for you

When I was sick you stopped by
Laid your hand on my forehead
And prayed to the heavens for wellness ahead
All the years your prayers
Protected me from myself
Even after you left
And went to rest
In a place close to God

Thank you dad for the prayers and the poetry
Thank you

Sheryl

FATHERS

“Oh but that wont work”
You say to your Mother in despair
“No, not at all”
Who will help you make something out of air?
Who will help you with a project from school?
Who, who, who?

As Father walks down the stairs
It all becomes perfectly clear,
“This is a job for dad”
You and your mother both say.

Father can help with numerous things
And although some times Mom is needed
Dad is perfect for All manner of projects
All manner of sizes

So in tribute to these great giants of usefulness
This poem has been written.
And we will remember the richness
Of their words and actions.

“Father, Father, thank you ever so much

To our Daddy on Father’s day

We’re so happy to have you as our Dad,
We know that sometimes we drive you mad,
You always work so very hard,
We should give you a huge thank you” card,
We understand why you’re hardly home,
And why you spend so much time on the phone,
You work for a better life for us,
Hopefully it’s all worth the fuss,
Although we don’t always say thank you,
We are so grateful,
You have no clue,
We all love you so very much,
You have got that special touch,
We know your intentions are good,
When you try your hand at making food,
But Dad, stick to your garage and tools,
That is where you look so cool,
Whenever we come to you with a problem you listen,
And prove that you can draw any type of prism,
On the boat we have lots of fun,
Although at times get burnt by the boiling sun,
When we are on the tube, we get whiplash,
Into the water is where we land with a crash,
It’s actually very sore,
But because we’re spending precious time with you...
All we want is more

Quote of the Day

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
