When You return
by Shawnette Said, South africa
When you return as the butterfly you always talk about,
Let me be the silver lining to your rainy cloud.
If you decide to return as an eagle; king of the sky,
Let me be the wind beneath your wings while you fly.
If it is a lion you would want to return as,
Let me be your camouflage when you hide in the grass.
Should you return as a fish in the sea
Then the tiny air bubbles would be me.
If granted that you return as a majestic stallion,
Allow me to be your most prized medallion.
If you come back as a panther with eyes cold as stone,
Then make me the shadow, which you call home.
Come back as the friendly dolphin of the massive ocean,
Then I will be the wave that keeps you in motion.
If you come back as a peaceful little lark,
I will be your light in the dark.
When you return as the big elephant with sincere eyes,
Let me be the reason for your laughter not your cries.
If God chooses for you to return as a dove,
I pray that He grants me the exclusivity of your love.
The day you decide to return without me,
Let me die now so that day I never live to see.
