We hear it oh so often said when folks are getting old Excuse their silly laughter and behaviour we are told Don’t worry much about the nod & the silly way they dress It’s just their own perculiar way of coping with their stress
Keep them away from birthdays and your closest friends Arrange to only vist them an ocassional now and then Hear how all the children are told to ignore them too These two old fogies can hardly bend just to tie a shoe
Folk who speak such cruel words have failed to really see These two nodding feeble heads are full of love & dignity Sailed lifes’ sea, experienced life but not from trouble free They are not just two old walking sticks & full of frailty
So when you next are tempted to discard the frail & weak Rather choose to listen to what wisdom they will speak Their wealth of words & dignity all bought at such a price Will aid your young & fearless heart to say a thing so nice
There are no frail & feeble folk just a passing of the years Been where angels fear to tread & heard the glorious cheers Upon those snow white nodding heads are signs of grief & joy They learnt the old known lesson that life is a game we play
So dear elderly folk we’re glad you’re here & in our hearts to stay
